Padmgad Fort
To protect the Sindhudurga fort from the landward side, Shivaji built a fort of Padmadurg, now almost disappeared into the sea. It lay between the Sindhudurga and the coast, and featured a dry dock – a narrow tongue of water between two rock walls. It was Shivaji’s main ship construction yard as well as being part of Sindhudurg’s defenses. There was a belt of land from Dandi seashore to Padmadurga, but in 2004, by the effect of Tsunami in Indonesia, it get blown away under the water.
It is said that there was an underground way to sindhudurga fort.
